I have clinical depression, fell off on my regular dental stuff. Had some deep pockets in my gums. The first hygienist I saw was really understanding about it, tried to come up with ways to motivate me. Second hygienist I saw was rude, callous, and judgmental. I switched offices, and now I don’t really wanna go in for my checkup. To whoever needs to hear this, if you chose a profession where a job requires you to administer compassionate care, be kind to your patients. You never know what someone else is going through.

Thanks so much ❤ Thank fully I am considering going University outside the UK so I dont have to worry about facilitating subjects however, they are usefull. I am considering doing Economics, a humanities possibly psychology or Philosophy and a creative possibly Theater studies or Music and AS level math or A level I am not sure yet cause idk if I can handle the work load but I do want to continue math in a way. I will be doing self study for some of them.

i found out 3 years later that my so called classmates and friends made fun of my teeth behind my back, because they're yellowish and i've had depression since i was little.

I got braces at 11 and didn’t have all my adult teeth yet. I was getting bullied so bad my dad got me them & soon as my adult teeth grew in they were worse then what I started with

i have really weirdly shaped teeth, and the amount of times ive been told to close ny mouth when smiling because it was "scary" hurts me. Its a congenital condition, what am i meant to do?

thank you so much this was very helpful! i'm planning to do biology and chemistry next year as I would like to do healthcare and medicine in the future and i did very well in these subjects for gcse! i'm wondering if psychology would be a good combination with these subjects as i'm really interested in the subject and it was my favourite at the taster day, however i've heard maths might be a better option? i was very good at maths for gcse but it wasn't my favourite so i'm unsure of what to do!

I used to have super yellow teeth while I was going through really bad depression a few years back, I was insecure about it and it only made things worse. And it didn’t help having an overbite. Smiling is so healing but when you can’t do that without judgement it just makes a mental state worse

This made me feel a lot better about my teeth.. I was also abused and neglected as a child and no one in my family practices healthy oral hygiene. My teeth are in a terrible state right now but I just can’t afford it, even though I have a terrible infected cavity in my back molar… A lot of shame over my teeth, so much so that I’m hesitant to smile or talk… I don’t want to be judged, I just want it to be fixed… Thank you so much for your kindness ❤

You are honestly my rock and inspiration. I am about to take maths, biology and chemistry as my a levels, but am in doubt. I know biology l might manage but chemistry and maths are giving me a hard time to have peace of mind, especially maths. I can’t say l am a superhuman in terms of academics, l got an A in combined science, B in chemistry and a B in maths. The college l applied to said they are not bad results and l can go forward to enrolling but l am in so much doubt. I am scared maths with crash me, and that my classmates to be, will be so good that l won’t have room to look at myself as something. Maybe it’s me overthinking but my goal is to pass with three As. Would love your response❤

Wow, but always remember the 80:20 rule, as it is going to be approx 80% of communication in one form or another and about 20% or so actual clinical work. My perceptions and acumen after 30 years of practice. All the best😊

My mom was neglected when she was a child, her teeth is yellow and we don't have the money to change that...

when i did my gsces i learnt that aiming for 9 mainly is leading you to failure because you will over commit a good 7 in 3 subjects can get you into med school and stuff so just make 9 u hope for but dont want alot

How did you scale your scores for each section? On Medify my scaled scores are lower for the same mark compared to the table used by other students on Medic Mind? Which one would you go off of, as I don't want to give myself false confidence/ or stress myself out unnecessarily?

Currently im not in the best mental health space and find it hard to get up or even brush my teeth. So when ppl say I have sucj yellow teeth I get so anxious and completely shut down and/or hide my smile or anything like that.

As someone that struggled with severe depression and still struggle with depression currently,I must say that the lack of motivation is what makes us not brush our teeth. We don't feel like doing anything,we're unmotivated with everything,we get frustrated bc the hobbies we had before doesn't make us content and we have no motivation. The lack of motivation,difficulty of concentration and the endless feeling of emptiness. Even showering is hard,we end up caring more about others than ourselves,our hygiene sucks eventually.. Idk how many times I've gone days without showering but Ik it a lot,I hadn't brushed my teeth for months at some point aswell. Eating is also hard because we prefer laying down in bed and we only find out we're hungry because we hurt physicaly like headaches,nausea,fatigue..Eventually because we stopped eating like we did before our stomach becomes small,I used to take only a scoop of peanut butter and went on with my day. This what I experienced,I'm aware that others have had different experiences,some end up eating due to finding it comforting to do,depression is basicaly this endless cycle.
